What's on Top of your Fridge?

Do you decorate the top of your refrigerator? Most people enter my house by the back door...and enter my kitchen so during the holidays I always decorate the top of the fridge...over the years I've done a variety of things and really was running out of ideas...this year Jim (my husband) suggested doing a tribute to the 50s kinda thing, the decade we both were born and my house was built in 1954 as well. I went hunting through my decorations and found my celluloid Santa that lights up (doesn't show up that well in the pics but looks really festive when the lights are at at night) and then my bubblegum tree....then found the red metal  pickup truck that normally sits on a shelf in the den... and the Jim said " put one of those village trees in the bed of the truck"...and then I placed a replica Coke drink machine bank that just screamed 50s to me among the other goodies...I think it turned out pretty cute and I used things I had for years...Tell us what you have on top of your fridge...we would love to hear.

  2. Nothing on top of my fridge because there are cabinets above that would get blocked, but I am just loving that vintage Santa you have up on yours!!!

  3. Kristen if you look carefully you will see I have two cabinets behind the display but I NEVER use those cabinets as they are near the ceiling and way too tall for my short shelf! LOL

  4. I love this - Gayle is right - this area will be the first glimpse of Christmas inside Berkley Street - Santa looks great. Readers - Jim is always so good about assisting on the many projects Gayle jumps on.

  5. I love that bubblegum tree ... if it ever goes missing, you know who took it! :-)

I have the three "ornament trees" that Mama & I made several years ago on top of our fridge - one tall, one medium & then the short one we ran out of tiny balls, so we finished it with a snowman wine topper. And actually, they are on top of the cabinet over the fridge, but same concept, right?

Here's a link to a picture ... not nearly as cute as the 50s fridge topper, but hey, I am pregnant & having a hard time reaching high places! :-)

  8. On top of my fridge are Christmas trees, Gayle. I made one of them out of strips of ribbon that look like candy. You put the ribbon on a styrofoam cone with straight pins. At the top are peppermint candies. Lauren sculpted another one, and in the middle is a vintage cookie tin with two trees on it.
